Introducing Kelechi Ejekam

We would like to welcome Kelechi to the Refuge Group as another one of our spring interns! Kelechi Ejekam, first generation Nigerian-American was born and raised in southwest Houston to Rachel & Emmy Ejekam. As the middle child, he soon realized the true meaning of the word responsibility.  Due to the value of “family first” that Kelechi’s parents stressed early, his younger brother and older sister were his best friends and still are today. To ensure a great education, Kelechi’s parents placed him in the Vanguard programs of his elementary and middle schools. Later on, Kelechi would go on to Lamar High School where he found a passion for sports, especially basketball and football. While at Lamar, Kelechi earned his first varsity letter award in basketball his sophomore year. He would then go on to letter in football his junior and senior year. Upon graduating, he faced his most difficult decision; choosing the right university.

Kelechi spent his freshman fall semester at Sam Houston State University, transferred to Lamar University for a year and has finally found a home at the University of Houston. Through these transitions, he still managed to keep God first, his grades up and participate on each of his university’s respective football teams.

Kelechi has declared a Digital Media major in the School of Technology, with an emphasis on video production. He hopes to learn more about this field and everything it has to offer by approaching each opportunity with an open mind and enthusiasm. In his spare time, Kelechi loves to watch ESPN, relax with his family, and work out. When he’s not doing those things, he’s doubling as the team’s unofficial barber and racking up to save for next semester’s school fees.

Thank you for joining our family at The REFUGE Group and we look forward to working with you!
