Photographing an Event

With today’s technology, you don’t have to be a world-class photographer to capture great moments on camera. Although you should hire a professional photographer for important events like grand openings, a simple camera or phone shot is sufficient for social media postings.

Who To Photograph

The most important part of snapping pictures at an event is to ask permission first. You can get in serious trouble for not getting approval before posting photos online.

When we photograph client events, we like to take photos of everything from the food to group shots and more. That’s what you should focus on as well. When these photos are shared, you want to make sure people get a feel for the entire event.

Always take pictures of people engaged in conversation, looking at your product or enjoying their time.

Don’t Photograph

Refrain from taking dozens of pictures of the same people over and over again. Not only will the photos grow stale, you’ll also disrupt the flow of the party. Avoid taking pictures of empty space or areas that make the event seem less than successful.

The most important thing to remember is to have fun. If your photos were not as great as you’d like, no worries. There’s Photoshop where you can scale, rotate and filter your photos to perfection.
